Sweet Tooth: DT Works

I am always one for free things, and a couple of days ago, DT Works ( originally the Dessert Truck) was giving out their sweet treats for free! Since I had off from work, it was already an awesome day, but this was the icing (or should I say bacon custard) on the cake. I was also curious to what else they have added to their menu since becoming a shop, so off I went.
Outside. I love how much the windows opened up to let the breeze in. (P.S this is RIGHT next to Clinton Street Baking Company known for their blueberry pancakes from Bobby Flay's Throwdown)
It was surprisingly roomy, to the left there was a giant chalk board with the menu written on it. There was also was plenty of seating, enough for at least 15-20 people. You can also see them make you dessert right behind the counter

Oh my god, this was SO decadent. I have had their bread pudding with regular vanilla before, but the bacon custard was amazing. This was very very rich and the bread pudding was silky, soft and airy...the taste? Incredibly chocolatey. The bacon custards saltiness cut into the sweet perfectly resulting in another dimension of flavor. This dessert was about the size of a 5 oz cup, but it somehow took me 15 minutes to finish eating because if the richness. The whipped topping was cool and light and was refreshing against the warmth of the pudding.
Price: Free! (normally $6.00)
Verdict: I was so lucky to get this for free, but even if I had to pay 6 dollars, I would get it again! They also started making ice creams, sorbets, which I am eager to try. I am also curious about their brioche doughnut holes( with nutella!) It was a nice and relaxing environment to have a sweet treat, definitely worth a trip to the Lower East Side.

Drinks Only: Liquiteria

I love the nice weather we have been having, but walking around New York in the heat can make a girl in much need of a cool refreshing drink. I have passed this place plenty of times before, but  was kind of hesitant to ever get anything because the juices seemed kind of pricey. However, they did use fresh fruits and vegetables, and on this particular day I decided to treat myself to something cold and healthy.
Outside seating to enjoy your fresh beverage
The inside, made me feel super happy and vibrant, and the people there were very nice and friendly. There were so many kinds of drinks to choose from, from "liquid meals", freshly blended juices,  to bottled juices. They even had sandwiches!
Fresh fuits and veggies ready to be juiced and in my belly. I love how it automatically makes me feel healthier looking at them!
The Brain Teaser
Out of the choices, I decided to go with the Brain Teaser since it seemed to have the most interesting mix of veggies and fruits. The juice was made with carrots, kale, apple, red cabbage, parsley, ginger, lechithin memory booster.
Wow, this was EXTREMELY spicy. The ginger was fresh so its flavor was very potent. After each sip, the heat hit the back of my throat and I had to wait a while to take another sip. If you are a ginger lover, this is the drink for you! The only other ingredients that stood out were the apple and carrots (though barely). It was served a tad bit cooler than room temperature and I longed for a freezer to blast chill it a bit. So if you are looking for a cold drink, just grab one of their pre-made refrigerated juices.
Price: $5.45 for a 14 oz
Verdict: Maybe picking the "interesting" choice didn't pay off here, the flavors were very imbalanced but boy did that ginger wake me up! I might come back to try one of their smoothies, or perhaps even their pb and J sandwich, which they deem "amazing"

Lunch: No.7 Sub

After leaving the gym, my first intentions were to walk down from 38th street to Union Square and find some place to eat. However, my stomach was very impatient and started growling vigorously. Luckily I was walking past this place, and I remembered reading about their awesome hoagies (I'm from Philly so saying "sub" is just too insane for me to do). It was so nice out that I headed to Madison Square park to sit outside in the sunshine to eat it. My taste buds had know idea what I was in for.

Inside Ordering and Open Kitchen * photo from Zagat, again my camera erasing mishap. It was super busy when I went there ( 1 pm). The waiting area was pretty small but the design was chic and modern.
Panko Crusted Tofu Sub
Well thankfully my camera didn't erase this photo! This was about 10 inches long and it was with a garlic spread, pickled rhubarb, peas and micro greens. Wow. AMAZING. Literally all of my other senses stopped working and all I could do was savor every last morsel of this that I had in my mouth. It may be just one of the best hoagies I have ever eaten in my life, and that is saying a lot. The panko crusted tofu was so wonderfully crunchy and hardy- carnivores wouldn't even miss the meat. I loved the rhubarb, which threw out little surprises of tartness every so often. The peas added a fun textural element, popping with each bite. The big winner was the garlic spread. Creamy and not too much of it, and wasn't that horrible garlic powder flavor, but tasted like the actual thing. The bread was soft and held the other components together well.
Price: $9.00
Verdict: Though this place is10 blocks from my office, I just might have to take the trek down here every so often and try all of the different hoagies! They have house made sodas such as hibiscus ginger ale, and maple cream which also sound yummy . I learned that there is also a sit down restaurant in Fort Greene Brooklyn named No.7. If I am ever in that neighborhood I'll be sure to check it out.
